Onsite SEO-Things You Should Do If You Want Your Posts, Articles, etc. To Rank Well In The SERP’S
How important is utilizing proper onsite seo techniques? Very important if you long for high ranking in the serps, and especially Google. If you succeed in a first page showing, for your keywords, in Google, I would imagine the other search engines are going to like your offerings as well, and you know what? You’ll have the opportunity to earn extra money online.
Offsite seo is probably of even more importance in getting on that coveted first page of the serps, but don’t shoot yourself in the foot by neglecting your onsite seo! If working from home and earning extra money with a blog is your goal, you should make sure all your ducks are in a row, ie. get your onsite seo right, than work on your offsite seo on a continual basis.
A first page showing, for keywords that get searched for (why go after ones that don’t!) will bring your site traffic, and traffic=extra money in your pocket. It’s as simple as that!
So onsite seo becomes a very important piece of the seo puzzle, and one that deserves you attention.
So here’s a list of steps (in order of importance, more or less) that can help your onsite seo be all it can be.
- Use your keywords in your title. This is very important! Google puts a lot of weight, from a seo standpoint, on the title. So don’t waste this chance to use the your keywords. And not only in the title but making your keywords the first words of the title is also a good idea.
- If you’re targeting a search phrase be sure to use it in the form it will be searched for. So if you were targeting “how to make money from home” do have that exact phrase used several times. That’s not to say you couldn’t also mix it up a little, like “stay home and make money” or “earn money from your home” but try to use the phrase that the search engine user will use, as your main keywords.
- Create good content, and cover your topic well! Don’t skimp, when it comes to writing content, whether it’s a post, article, or anything you write that you either have a link in or that you think could show up in a search engines results. Use your keywords (but don’t get carried away, a sprinkling of your keywords is enough) and again cover the topic well. I plan on taking my own advice here on Cash Blog, and making sure my future posts have some meat to them!
- Use your main keywords several times. Again don’t get carried away, use your main keywords in the opening paragraph and again as you close, with a sprinkling in the body. It’s said 1% to 5% keyword density is about right, but I just try to make sure Google knows what I’m writing about! This doesn’t have to be difficult, just use common sense and make sure there is no doubt what your topic is! I’ve seen people bolding the keywords, but I don’t know whether that is really necessary.
- Have internal links to more good content on the subject of your post. Link to other posts within your site that gives the reader (and bots) more good useful information. Be sure to use relevant keyword anchor text in these internal links. Also, I like the Similar Posts Plugin for Wordpress, which automatically puts several relevant posts at the end of each post.
- Use your keywords in your tags. Don’t be redundant, but be sure to include all your keywords in your description tags.
- Include a site map. If you use Wordpress use a site map plugin to help the bots find all your pages, if not create a site map page. Try to make sure your visitors can access any page of your site within three clicks of your home page.
- Break up your content with images. If you use images (I need to use more!) be sure to use keywords in the “ALT” tags.
- Don’t forget the importance of your domain name. Pick a domain name that has your main keyword(s) in it, preferably the only word(s), or as close to first as possible. Register your domain name for longer than a year. This may not carry a lot of weight but every little bit can help!
- Use your keywords in the comments section too. Use your keywords in your replies to comments on your blog. You’ll find knowledgeable commenters using your keywords in their comments to you.
- Create a custom 404 page. Or at least make sure anyone who lands on that page can find relevant information within your site easily.
Conclusion
Onsite seo is really pretty straight forward, just follow the steps one by one. Once you’ve done this a few times for your articles it becomes second nature. I found a site that gives your pages a “grade” for your site’s Marketing Effectiveness my Work From Home site got a 95.6% grade which is pretty good. The site also gives you recommendations on how to improve your grade (I’ll be improving mine.) You can also find many other free online tools to judge your sites effectiveness from an seo perspective.
If you have more onsite seo suggestions to add, please leave a comment and share them. Remember this blog sports both the Keywordluv and Commentluv plugins as well as a Dofollow plugin so you get the full advantage of the links you leave in your comment:O)

Great information,
If people want to learn how to work from home you are providing a lot of great tips. Success online is all about finding people you can trust and then listening to what they have to say and you really fill your posts with good realistic information.
Thanks
Your welcome Andy, thanks for stopping by. Keywords in comments-it’s a good thing!
Nice post indeed. I am especially glad that you agree that you don’t need to worry about keyword density. Luckily more and more people are agree that it is almost completely irrelevant but I believe that there are still some people out there that think it matters.
Mikael’s last blog post..How to Retire Early and Rich by Making a Commitment
These are tips that i will surely keep in mind when i write content next. Mind if I tweet this post on twitter?
Hi Mikael,
It’s easy to let “keyword stuffing” work it’s way into your writing, and more than likely detrimental to your seo success. If you use your main keywords in the first paragraph and in closing, and stay on topic, leaving no doubt to your human readers what you’re writing about, I think (along with a few others, I feel know their stuff!) that you’ll be fine with the search engines. I do like to have some other related keywords I try to work in as well.
Not at all, Mira, tweet away!
Well.. We all have to follow these tips to run a successful blog.
Savi’s last blog post..Creating a Link Bait
You’re right, Savi
Creating link bait is something I haven’t really tried to do here at Cashblog, but it’s something we all do when we write I guess. I’m going to read your post and think about seeing what I can come up with. The links you get from link bait are about the best links you’ll ever get!
With this post, I can improve my knowledge. I am waiting for your next article.

Nice post, i think this will improve my knowledge skills.
Good ol SEO. I would like to add something that I have learned over the years and that is when on a link building campaign do not focus on a specific word or phrase. If you do this google will see and will think your building links unaturally. Attempt to mix up your phrase, personally I began working on getting to the top of serps for “make money free” I am on the first page for the exact phrase, but I got to the front page when I stopped anchoring my off site hyperlinks with only make money free. I switched it up with make money free online, earn money free, make money, earn money, and all the rest and found that not only was I recieving hits for make money free, but also a bunch more and happened to move up google alot faster.
Now to the blogmaster Jerry, I run a blog at http://marketing-a-website.blogspot.com/ I was just wondering if I could guest post on your blog and offer you the same for mine. If your interested email me. It is still really new, but my first blog which I started in march already has a PR of 1 (http://makemoneydontpay.blogspot.com/) and you could of course guest post on that one if you wanted. Anyway good blog.
I’ll send you an email Kris, thanks for stopping by.
Hi Kris,
Thanks for adding to the post with a good point! Very true, and not only use different keywords in your anchor text but even make some like the good ole “click here” or the like. Although a lot of people are figuring out how to use proper anchor text, there are still many who really don’t care much about seo. I’ll email you about a guest post.
Great post. Thanks for sparking me with an idea to finally do something about it! And the best thing is, Don’t Spam.
Great tips I will follow these and see how i get on. I will update you on how i get on
Geoff
thanks for info good blog

I really like the idea of allowing people to comment and get a keyword with a link out there. It’s helpful but certainly a win win situation for people who take the time to post a sincere comment. Much appreciated. Great tips by the way!
You’re welcome, escorts!
Hi Jerry, this one is very helpful and informative especially to a beginner like me. Thanks for sharing it to us.
That’s a pretty piece of advice! I’d add just that you must watch out what plugins you install in your CMS. In Wordpress for example some sitemap plugins can create a huge overload on the site sometimes (like the DDragonSitemap plugin). So before you’ll implement all those, be sure to read some reviews of those plugins.
Very true Mickal,
I’ve thought about doing a post on what plugins I feel are useful and needed, thanks for giving me push in that direction!
You’re welcome Mel, you’re exactly who this blog is here for!
Hi Jerry,
I think it is also important to use related keywords on your posts. You can use a keyword tool for this. You can either buy one or use Google’s Adwords Keyword Tool which is free(more recommended).
Enter your main keyword in there and look at the related keywords that the tool will list. Pick three or four from that list and use them in your posts along with your main keyword. In my opinion, this will tell Google that your post is really about your main keyword as it is supported by related keywords.
Just my two cents.
Hi Terry,
You’re right of course, using related keywords that are very relevant to your main keywords is a good idea. It really boils down to relevancy, I know I don’t use my keywords enough in my posts, but I’m going to start thinking about zeroing in on them more, and get some links using them and work my way up the serps. So much to do…and so little time to get it done!
Anyway thanks for your two cents Terry.
I posted many of my SEO company related articles on my website long ago, and since we know content is king, it helped drive and generate traffic to my website solely from articles.
Yeah, good content and plenty of it is always a good thing Organic SEO Company.
You forgot the most integral part, back link and anchor text!
jerry you would be better off changing your name to whichever keyword you are trying to target. including keywords in your text doesn’t create a one way link to your website.
Yeah but than I have to call you “Cheap SEO Services Canada” instead of your name. Although your point is well taken. Including keyword rich internal links within your posts does help your SEO.
Ya know,CSSC you’re right I’ll add a paragraph explaining how to use proper anchor text when getting your links.
Great tips mate. Although without quality backlinks you won’t be ranked high is search engines.
~motovun
You’re welcome Motovun, and that’s why my next post was Offsite SEO Tips!
thanks a lot for wonderful money making tips and advices.
You’re welcome Joy.
Right now our company is having us do a LOT of dofollow blogs to get our rankings up on the SEO Charts. You had a couple of other ideas that I thought were pretty good. So far we’re at 9th!
Hi, your site back link structure is an important aspect of your search engine optimization and relates to the number and quality of the sites that link to your site.
Very true, Remesh.
nice post, i think this is a great way to optimize your site. thanks for the tips.
You’re welcome John.
“Have internal links to more good content on the subject of your post”
I think this is the most neglected onsite-seo factor committed by most bloggers. I have personally seen the effects of internal linking specially on yahoo. So i would suggest to use internal linking for your added benefit!
Thanks
Matt@Size Trainer´s last blog ..Excercises to increase penis length
Yeah Matt, while internal links may not carry the weight of a good relevant link from another site, they can and do help your ranking-no doubt about it! I’m making a concerted effort to include good, relevant, internal links in all my posts (as I’m sure you’ve noticed.)
Thanks for your relevant comment;-).
Very interesting post. I’m wondering if web publishers have positive (or negative)opinions about Article Marketing services that spin original articles with back links to their site and then offer the article to blog network members for publishing on their respective blogs.
Tom@Relief For Back Pain´s last blog ..New “Open MRI” Technology
I’m not sure I follow you Tom, webmasters are all about getting back links, more is better as long as you keep Google happy! I like to submit only unique articles to about 6 of the highest PR directories out there, I haven’t really used any article spinners. I would imagine an article that is spun properly would be hard to tell from an original, unique article. And as far as getting it published elsewhere, well, more is better there for sure.
Hey, thanks for stopping by Tom.
It is hard to get domain name that match our keywords nowadays. I try in other website I own using keywords but what I got is 3 word long. Also remember don’t use too long domain name since it will make people forget about your site.
Ruri@Free article directory´s last blog ..Golf Clubs Callaway Manufactures for Men & Women
Hey Jerry, one confusion, don’t you feel that using keywords in the comments area may cross the limit of 1-5% ? Since we’re already using keyword density of 1-5% per page. Apart from this confusion, it’s very well written and a great tip for starters. To make money, you’ve to make sure you invest enough time in SEOing in your site as well, higher PR means more business.
Hi Ryan,
I don’t think using a few of your keywords in the comments would put you over that limit, remember you’re adding a lot more content (I tent to write long comments myself.) This particular post Onsite SEO-Things You Should Do If You Want Your Posts, Articles, etc. To Rank Well In The Serps (how’s that for adding keywords;o) has 48 comments which adds about as much content as the post itself, so I don’t see a problem. Your last point is well taken Ryan, to build traffic (and make money, they go hand in hand) you have to devote some real time to offsite seo (building back links) no doubt!
This is my first time to visit your blog and I must say its very informative. You have touched the important issues covering onpage optimization which adds value to the readers. I believe the meta tags are also very important in placing your chosen keywords. Great info.
